Even movement wise you use flicks in that game to rocket jump around for example. Same with Quake, because of how guns like the railgun work. What? I'm one of UT99's EU winners from back in the day, there was definitely flicking in the game, a lot of it actually. But it seems pretty likely that there's some reason players abandoned twitch aim to start flicking instead, I just can't figure it out. Maybe once every few dozen shots can I hit them, and even then it takes me longer to do so than I would if I had just been trying to use twitch aim, because I have to reestablish control of the mouse and put my fingers back on the key. So I tried to learn to flick a couple times, but after several practice sessions, I still can't even hit the bots in the practice range reliably. But I just keep having this lingering doubt always in my mind when I try to aim at anything, that maybe I wouldn't suck at hitting things so much if I updating my skill set and learned to flick.

So I kept playing without ever using flick aim, just replacing it with old-fashioned twitch aiming, which I was never very good at, but which I can at least hit things with, sometimes. I took a long life break from playing FPS, and when I came back, all the good players are using this flick shooting technique that I can't even come close to hitting anything with.

Back then, no one knew how to do a flick shot, it was all either twitch aim or tracking. I started playing FPS almost 20 years ago, back in the days of Quake and UT. I see a lot of people talking about the flick aim method, and it's something that I haven't learned how to do at all. I've been playing OW, and my aim, well, sucks.
